Chinese New Year

Ryan, our student teacher taught Ash class about the Chinese New Year, told them a story about a dragon and showed them how to write some things in Chinese. They made red banners as part of our celebration.

Beauty

Beauty we spotted in the playground !

Patterning

Ash class is exploring patterns of all kinds now. They are learning to extend patterns, create their own patterns and name patterns. Are there patterns you can spot in nature on your way home?

Shape pictures inspired by Paul Klee

Ash class looked at art work done by Paul Klee and learned about him and his style of art. The children then created their own artworks inspired by him.

Oral Stories

The children have listened to the oral stories Caps for Sale and The Wax Children. Ask your children if they can retell these stories to you. Oral storytelling is great for so many things, such as nourishing the imagination as well as learning how to sequence a story.

exploring shapes

Ash class has explored shapes in many different places and ways.

 by creating designs on paper
 and using big laminated shapes

using pattern blocks, decomposing and composing shapes with other shapes
 and creating designs
    using their bodies

 and pipe cleaners

 Geoboards

 and tangrams
So many different ways to use and explore shapes all around us!
